This guide is for you. In this guide, I\u2019ve shared the steps to set up Ghost website analytics using the Plausible Analytics platform.<\/p>\n

I am a blogger and I want a simple yet effective way to track my website visitors, user activity, and more. As you might know the native Ghost analytics is of no use.<\/p>\n

Initially, I tried tracking with Google Analytics, but it was too complex for my needs.<\/p>\n

Moving from Google Analytics to Plausible<\/h2>\n

When I was using WordPress<\/a>, Jetpack was simple and did the job well. But with Ghost, I had to find a good alternative and ended up choosing Plausible.<\/p>\n

The data shown in the dashboard is clean, and as a blogger, it has everything I need. Plausible is a similar one but with subscription charges. <\/p>\n

So why did I choose Plausible?<\/p>\n

I chose Plausible because it\u2019s lightweight and doesn\u2019t affect website performance. This is important for blogs trying to build a brand, as a smooth user experience helps keep visitors engaged. I didn\u2019t want to slow down my site with heavy or random tools.<\/p>\n

Setting Up Plausible Analytics on Ghost<\/h2>\n

In this post, I\u2019ve shared step-by-step instructions to get started with Plausible and also showed how to import data from Google Analytics.<\/p>\n

Follow the step by step guide given below.<\/p>\n

Step 1: Register for Plausible<\/h3>\n

Go to the Plausible registration page<\/a> and sign up for an account. You\u2019ll get a 30-day trial.<\/p>\n

Step 2: Copy the Plausible Script<\/h3>\n

During the signup process, you\u2019ll get the option to copy the Plausible tracking script. This script needs to be added to your Ghost website for tracking.
You can also enable options as shown below. <\/p>\n

Keep the page open so you can copy the code later.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ll use this code in the Ghost configuration step next.<\/p>\n

Step 3: Add the Script to Ghost Website<\/h3>\n

From your Ghost admin page, click the settings icon in the bottom-left corner.<\/p>\n

In the Header<\/strong> section, paste the Plausible script you copied in Step 2.<\/p>\n

Step 4: Verify the Script Installation<\/h3>\n

Go back to the Plausible page and click “Start Collecting Data”<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019ve added the script correctly, you\u2019ll see a success message as shown below.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s it! Your analytics dashboard is ready.<\/p>\n

Plausible will start tracking your website user activity right away.<\/p>\n

Importing Data from Google Analytics<\/h2>\n

If you were using Google Analytics, you can import the data into Plausible. Here\u2019s how:<\/p>\n

Click the dropdown next to your website name, and you\u2019ll see the Site Settings<\/strong> option.<\/p>\n

In Settings<\/strong>, you\u2019ll find the Imports & Exports<\/strong> option.<\/p>\n

There, you\u2019ll see the Import from Google Analytics<\/strong> option as shown below.<\/p>\n

Click that option and sign in to your Google Analytics account.<\/p>\n

Once you select the property and set the date range, all the data will be imported into Plausible. Its pretty quick actually!<\/p>\n

Wrapping Up<\/h2>\n

As a Ghost user, I found Plausible to be a better option for website stats and analytics.<\/p>\n

Google Analytics didn\u2019t work for me because it was too complex. Plausible is simple, clean, and gives all the data a blogger needs.<\/p>\n
